Long Editorial

The Challenge: Lift Schools piloted the Culture and Climate Survey and rolled it out to 57 schools across England, including their special schools. Participation was strong, with 96% of teachers (around 1,700) and 86% of pupils (22,000) in Years 5 to 13 taking part. The results indicated a staggering Key Stage 3 drop which needed to be reported in a formal but engaging-grabbing way.

The Solution: It was important to highlight the ‘cliff edge’ drop which happens at KS3. I experimented with several ways to visualise the data, and landed on using the brightest of the brand colours to draw the eye to this foremost. The following report design embraces this further to bring attention to student voices, inviting a wider audience of readers to start sector-wide conversations..

Putu, you should know that I shared the report and blog with my family and the only thing they commented on, multiple times, was how beautiful they look. When I told them that I was just involved with the text, they replied, 'Well, it's nice that you were a part of it.' 😂🤷
